Kylo Ren Illlustration Colored

Here's an illustration I digitally inked and colored in Photoshop. Click HERE to see my original post about the inks. I'm excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and I hope Kylo Ren's character will be a force to be reckoned with. Since I've yet to see the film, I have no clear idea about his relationship with Darth Vader and I hope this piece makes sense. It's been revealed that Kylo is obsessed with Vader and I felt an illustration with the both of them along with a hint of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious and Anakin/Luke's lightsaber would be a nice homage to the old and new movies. I also liked the First Order and Sith symbols being in a frame around the image, I hope this still works once the story is revealed in The Force Awakens.

GODZILLA

Here's a Godzilla illustration I did to get that itch scratched. I love Gojira and have wanted to do a colored illustration of him that would do the King of Monsters justice. This was traditionally inked with brush, pen and ink on 11"x17" Bristol board and digitally colored in Adobe Photoshop.

Dinosaur T-Shirt Designs

Here are some dinosaur designs I put together in Adobe Photoshop to be used for t-shirts. I'll be doing more dinosaur species in this same design in the coming weeks, check out my NeatoShop Storefront to purchase apparel by clicking HERE or my TeePublic Storefront by clicking HERE!
I love dinosaurs and have always been in awe of the fossils they left behind. The names of dinosaurs are ancient Greek based, so I liked the translation and skull combination of this design I put together.

STRAPPED

I've been working on a comic book pitch with writer Swifty Lang called STRAPPED (originally called The Surrogate). It's about a surrogate mother who goes on the run. It takes place in Miami and I decided to give the comic a faded textured look to give it a grindhouse tone befitting of the story's thriller atmosphere.
Here's the cover, page 1, some panels, and a title splash page I put together for the pitch, which is actually 7 pages long plus the cover.

Panel from Comic Book

Here's a panel from a potential comic book I'm currently collaborating on called The Surrogate with writer Jon "Swifty" Lang. We're in the very beginning of putting together a pitch consisting of several pages. I'm doing the pencils, inks, colors, and lettering for the project. I've always enjoyed all aspects of comic book creation and have strove to excel in all the various crafts that go into a fully colored and lettered page. It takes time to get all the elements together for a comic, but it's the art form I enjoy creating most. This is just one panel, the top third to the first page, an establishing shot of the Miami location used in the book. We hope to share more of this project in the future.

Investigation Discovery Channel Storyboards

Here are storyboards for a commercial about the Investigation Discovery Channel showcasing the different show hosts of theirs produced by IKA Collective. These were drawn and colored in Adobe Photoshop.

Bank of America Storyboards

Here are storyboards for two commercial spots showcasing Bank of America produced by IKA Collective. These were done in Adobe Photoshop. I tried a new technique utilizing photos for backgrounds. I took some photos around my neighborhood, a bus stop, a supermarket, and some street scenes, and used the stamp filter in Photoshop to stylize them. I then added them as backgrounds to the human figures I had drawn and digitally colored them.

Olive Garden Storyboards

Here are some storyboards for an Olive Garden commercial produced by MacGuffin Films showcasing a 2 for $25 deal going on at the time. Lots of close-ups of steaming pasta and cheese, cheese, and more cheese! These were done in Adobe Photoshop.

SharkFest Storyboards

Here's are storyboards for a commercial spot showcasing Nat Geo's Sharkfest week on their channel. The commercial is about two guys talking about Sharkfest and trying not to compare it to Discovery Channel's Shark Week. It's kind of funny, I thought.

Super Schmuck

Here's an illustration I did for Seth Kushner for a birthday gift. He does a semi-autobiographical comic series called Schmuck Comix, of which I did a story for, HERE. This piece is of his protagonist, Adam Kessler, and his insecurities towards the opposite sex as he gets back into the dating scene during his 20s. I was trying to do a Jim Lee-ish superhero for the dream, but I can't pull off Scott Williams' tight inking style.
I colored the illustration in photoshop. This is being used to help bring the Schmuck web comics into a collected format by being a reward for helping back the project at Kickstarter. If you'd like to help out the project, and possibly receive this illustration as a print, visit the Kickstarter page (before 4/16/2014) by clicking HERE!
